Improving the Wheel

One of our current focuses right now is building custom Social Networking sites. The reason for the interest is that while MySpace, Facebook, and other popular social networking sites have a huge number of benefits and an even larger user base, they sometimes have a steep learning curve and are often not very professional.

MySpace (especially) allows too much control to inexperienced users, enabling them to alter the cascading style sheets (CSS) or to implement code that breaks their page(s) or even crashes your browser or operating system. The most popular social networking sites seem to continually add features and functionality that are not thoroughly tested; also resulting in this “broken page” experience. Most users don’t want to be visiting a new page and get blasted with two or 3 music players and six videos playing all at once. They don’t want to have to wait for a page to load that in print view, is really 64 pages long. Worse, they don’t want to be bombarded with adult content while at work or in front of family.

No, we strive to build a user experience with ease of use at the forefront. Simple and clean design with stable coding is key.  Many users just don’t have the time or interest in customizing their blogs / websites through extensive CSS. They just want it usable. They want it to function the way it’s supposed to function. They want it to be safe to browse while they are at work or at home.
